Job Descriptions
Upper School Literature and Rhetoric Teacher
Responsibilities:
- Teach middle school humanities courses using the integrated Omnibus curriculum, combining history, literature, and theology..
- Instruct high school literature and rhetoric courses, emphasizing reading, Socratic discussion, and the art of persuasive writing and speaking.
- Employ classical pedagogy, such as the trivium’s logic and rhetoric stages, to cultivate students’ analytical skills and love for learning.
- Integrate biblical principles across disciplines, drawing connections between great works and a Christian worldview.
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the school’s classical Christian curriculum and mission.
- Assess student progress through methods like essays, oral presentations, debates, and exams to encourage intellectual and spiritual growth.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events to support our community and mission.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary connections and the overall educational experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Literature, History, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred but not required).Experience teaching middle and/or high school students, ideally in a classical or Christian educational setting.
- Understanding of classical pedagogy or a willingness to learn and apply it.
- Deep commitment to faith in Jesus Christ and the integration of biblical principles into teaching.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain teaching certification from the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a heart for mentoring students and partnering with parents.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with the Omnibus curriculum and its integrated approach to humanities.
- Experience teaching high school literature and rhetoric (e.g., argumentation, debate, public speaking).
- Skill in leading Socratic dialogue and guiding students in crafting compelling arguments.
Upper School Latin Teacher
Responsibilities:
- Teach middle school beginning Latin courses, introducing grammar, vocabulary, and basic translation to build a strong foundation.
- Employ classical pedagogy, such as the trivium’s grammar and logic stages, to cultivate students’ linguistic precision and love for ancient languages.
- Integrate biblical principles, drawing connections between Latin texts, Church history, and a Christian worldview.
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the school’s classical Christian curriculum and mission.
- Assess student progress through methods like translations, quizzes, recitations, and projects to encourage intellectual and spiritual growth.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events to support our community and mission.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary connections, such as linking Latin to literature or history.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience teaching middle and/or high school students, ideally in a classical or Christian educational setting.
- Understanding of classical pedagogy or a willingness to learn and apply it.
- Deep commitment to faith in Jesus Christ and the integration of biblical principles into teaching.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain teaching certification from the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS).

Teach high school and dual credit courses (in alignment with Colorado Christian University) for one or more of the following: Geometry, Algebra II, Statistics, Calculus, Anatomy & Physiology, and/or Chemistry - Design and deliver engaging, discussion-rich lessons that highlight the harmony between Scripture and the created order
- Incorporate laboratory work (for sciences) and rigorous proof-based exploration (for mathematics) while cultivating virtue and intellectual humility
- Assess student mastery through essays, oral defenses, lab reports, problem sets, and exams
- Mentor students in the rhetoric stage of the trivium, helping them connect mathematical and scientific truths to a biblical worldview
- Collaborate with the upper-school faculty on cross-disciplinary projects, senior thesis support, and rhetoric school activitiesParticipate in faculty professional development and other community events
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related STEM field
- Proven excellence teaching upper-school math and/or science, preferably in a classical Christian setting
- Deep personal faith in Jesus Christ and enthusiastic agreement with SCA’s Statement of Faith
- Strong grasp of (or earnest desire to master) classical pedagogy and the logic/rhetoric stages of the trivium
- Ability (or willingness to obtain) ACCS teacher certification
- Excellent communication skills and a heart for discipling adolescents
- Preferred Additional Strengths
- Ability to teach multiple levels across both math and science (ideal but not required)
- Experience preparing students for AP or dual-enrollment (DE) Calculus (AB or BC), AP Chemistry, or DE science courses
- Familiarity with classical science curricula (e.g., Novare Science) and math curricula that emphasize discovery and proof
- Coaching or club sponsorship interest (e.g., math team, robotics, science olympiad)
