Application Procedures
Step 1: Understanding Who We Are
We are excited to share in the privilege of educating your children and want you to become as passionate as we are about the Classical Christian approach. As a Christian school, we will unapologetically teach from the Christian perspective. And due to the fact that the Classical system is fundamentally different to how most of us have been educated, we want you and your family to fully understand the unique methods to education we are promoting through the Classical Christian ethos. To introduce you to these concepts we require all families to read the following:
- Summit Classical Academy Parent Handbook (to be completed before the application is signed)
- An Introduction to Classical Education: A Guide for Parents by Dr. Christopher Perrin (copies are available upon request and are to be read before the family interview)
This reading will give you insights on what we do and why we do it.
Step 2: Application
All applications are submitted through FACTS. All portions of the application must be complete and necessary documents uploaded before your application can be processed.
Note: Children entering kindergarten must be 5 years old by June 1 in the year of enrollment. Exceptions will be considered.
Step 3: Testing
Testing for all incoming full-time students is required before admission. At the administration’s discretion, students may be exempt from this testing. Kindergarten testing is completed in the spring of the year of the anticipated start of kindergarten.
Step 4: Interview
An administrator will meet with the parents to discuss the completed application. This meeting provides an opportunity for both the family and Summit Classical Academy to ask questions.
Step 5: Tuition Arrangements
Parents will enroll with FACTS, our online tuition management service. Tuition may either be paid in full in July or in twelve monthly payments.
Financial Assistance: Summit Classical Academy will be using FACTS to accept all applications for financial assistance.
ACE Scholarships: Families that qualify for free and reduced lunch may apply for an ACE Scholarship by following these instructions. The ACE Scholarship along with SCA financial assistance can make our school affordable for those who thought an excellent classical Christian education was outside of their financial reach.
Step 6: Notification of Acceptance and Records
After the above steps have been completed, the Summit Classical Academy leadership will review and make the final admission determination, and families will be notified in writing of the final decision.
Before the student will be allowed to attend class, all required records must be submitted to the school office. Required records include, but are not limited to: permanent records from your child’s previous school, health forms completed by licensed providers, immunization records/waiver, and emergency contact form.
Admission is offered in the following priority order after applications have been approved:
1) Children of Summit Classical Academy/SCA faculty and staff
2) Siblings of current students
3) Those on the previous year’s wait list
Wait List
If there are more applicants than spaces available, names of approved applicants will be placed on a wait list in the order the applications were processed. The priority order listed above applies to the wait list.
Financial Responsibility Policy
Summit Classical Academy relies on tuition income to meet annual operating expenses. Therefore, it is necessary that the financial obligations of enrollment be for the entire school year. Once the non-refundable $500 deposit has been paid, a student is officially enrolled. This deposit will be applied to the student’s tuition and the financial obligation will remain for the entire school year regardless of voluntary withdrawal or suspension.
Parents are responsible for the timely payment of the full annual tuition and other fees due to Summit Classical Academy. The only exception to this policy is if another student fills the vacated seat in a full class. If the seat is replaced in this manner, the exiting family is only responsible for tuition through the last day prior to the new student’s start day.
Summit Classical Academy admits students of any race, color, national, or ethnic origin, to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally made available to our student body. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, athletic, artistic, or other school administered programs except where necessitated by specific religious tenets held by Summit Classical Academy.
