Our Board
Background
Perhaps it is most accurate to describe the first board members of Summit Classical Academy not as founders but as helpers. The school was a need and desire of many families in the area, and at the time, there was nothing like it available. Believing that God greatly values families and that a classical Christian school helps families, the Board accepted the work of facilitating the start of a school. Summit Classical Academy is therefore God’s school – God’s tool to help make Himself better known to children and their families, where the pursuit of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom will lead to a right and beautiful relationship with Him.
Board of Directors
The Board meets monthly, and specific times and locations can be found on our calendar. The first part of each meeting is an open session. The public is invited to come, to ask questions, share ideas, listen and be part of the open discussion. All SCA parents are welcome!
Board members have hearts for building relationships with families. They welcome conversations with parents, but all inquiries will be addressed by the collective Board. Please email inquiries to [email protected]. Emails that are received at least five business days prior to a board meeting will be addressed in the open discussion of that meeting.
- The primary role of the Board of Directors is to ensure that the mission, vision, and core values of the school are upheld and protected in every decision.
- The Board’s job is to hire, evaluate, and support the head of school.
- The Board establishes policies, develops the strategic plan, and keeps records and budgets.
- The Board understands the spiritual responsibility of serving and leading within the school, taking on this work with seriousness and humility.
- The Board maintains and upholds the standard and expectation for excellence in the school.
