Application Procedures
Step 1: Understanding Who We Are
We want your family to fully understand and embrace our classical Christian program, so it is required that all families read the Summit Classical Academy Parent Handbook and An Introduction to Classical Education: A Guide for Parents by Dr. Christopher Perrin, a PDF is available online and copies are available at the front desk. This reading will give you insights on what we do and why we do it. The reading of the Summit Classical Academy Parent Handbook needs to take place before the application is signed and reading Dr. Perrin’s guide needs to take place prior to the family interview.
Step 2: Application
Complete the application online at summitclassicalacademy.org. It must be filled out completely before it can be processed. A copy of the student’s most recent report card, achievement test scores, teacher recommendations, birth certificate, and a family picture must accompany this application.
Step 3: Testing
Testing for all incoming students is required before admission. At the Administration’s discretion, students may be exempt from this testing. Kindergarten testing is completed in the spring of the year of the anticipated start of kindergarten.
Step 4: Interview
An administrator will meet with the parents to discuss the completed application. This meeting provides an opportunity for both the family and Summit Classical Academy to ask questions. Students applying for Upper School will be interviewed as well.
Step 5: Tuition Arrangements
Parents will enroll with FACTS, our online tuition management service. Tuition may either be paid in full in July, or in twelve monthly payments from July to June.
Step 6: Notification of Acceptance and Records
After the above steps have been completed, the Administration will review and make the final admission determination. Families will be notified in writing of the decision.
Before the student will be allowed to attend class, all required records must be submitted to the school office. Required records include, but are not limited to: permanent records from your child’s previous school, health forms completed by licensed providers, immunization records/ waiver, and emergency contact form.
Admission is offered in the following priority order after applications have been approved:
1) Children of Summit Classical Academy/SCA faculty and staff
2) Siblings of current students
3) Those on the previous year’s wait list
Wait List
If there are more applicants than spaces available, names of approved applicants will be placed on a wait list in the order the applications were processed. The priority order listed above applies to the wait list.
Financial Responsibility Policy
Summit Classical Academy relies on tuition income to meet annual operating expenses. Therefore, it is necessary that the financial obligations of enrollment be for the entire school year. Once the non-refundable $500 deposit has been paid, a student is officially enrolled. This deposit will be applied to the student’s tuition and the financial obligation will remain for the entire school year regardless of voluntary withdrawal or expulsion.
Parents are responsible for the timely payment of the full annual tuition and other fees due Summit Classical Academy. The only exception to this policy is if another student fills the vacated seat in a full class. If the seat is replaced in this manner, the exiting family is only responsible for tuition through the last day prior to the new student’s start day.
